Welcome to the first installment of Friday Favorites! From now on, I’ll be introducing you to some of my favorite things I’ve discovered during the course of the week. I hope you all enjoy these favorites!
1. Listen: The Lively Show – I decided recently that instead of listening to another episode of Ryan’s Roses on the radio and filling my daily commute with negative news, I was going to use that time to listen to something more positive and uplifting. Jess Lively’s show is so fascinating. I tend to jump around to different episodes, but they range from interviews with Gabriele Bernstein, to finding alignment, to her adventures exploring the world. I would definitely give her podcast a try – it makes the LA traffic a little more bearable!
2. Wear: Mulberry Pant by Kit and Ace – Order these pants now and thank me later. Literally the comfiest pants I’ve ever owned! For those of you who have never heard of the company Kit and Ace, it was started by the former lead designer at Lululemon. The clothes are pretty similar to Lululemon, but more modern and minimalistic, and an emphasis on athleisure wear.
3. Read/Listen: Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works. Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch discuss the importance of rejecting diet mentality and how to begin to listen to your body’s natural cues of hunger once again. I thought it was so interesting when they talked about how young children are in touch with these cues and will tell you when they are hungry or full. As we get older, we begin to lose those clues and eat when we aren’t hungry and even to the point of when we are in pain. The purpose of eating intuitively is to build a more positive relationship with food and your body. I’ll give you all an update when I finish!
4. Eat: Quinoa Crunch Bowl from Lyfe Kitchen. I’m within walking distance from Lyfe Kitchen and very often find myself craving this bowl! It’s made with quinoa tabbouleh, fresh crunchy vegetables (lightly steamed broccoli and snow peas), avocado, arugula, edamame hummus, chipotle vinaigrette and fireman’s hot sauce (so good!). I always get tofu on top as well! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
